WHAT IS AUTISM?
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and autism are both general terms used to describe a group of complexed disorders that affect early brain development.
Key features: deficits in social-emotional reciprocity, nonverbal communicative behaviors, difficulty developing, maintaining, and understanding relationships, as well as displaying restricted, repetitive behaviors, interests, or activities (DSM-V).
It can be a lifelong debilitating disease if left untreated.
